CHAPTER011
CHAPTER 011
AVA’S POV
I had no appetite for the breakfast he was preparing, so I walked back to the room, my footsteps slow but purposeful.
The project I had been working on for months wasn’t going to finish itself–it was crucial, and it felt like the only thing in my life I could still control.
I was designing dresses for Grey Empire, one of the biggest companies In the country. They dealt with a wide range of industries, and apparently, they were hosting a jewelry launch show.
It was well–known that they needed a designer to create drusses for the models showcasing the jewelry.
This was a big opportunity. I had to pitch my designs to them, and if I landed the project, it wouldn’t just yield significant profits to the company, it would introduce my work to the world.
The thought of that kept me grounded, this was the one thing I could hold onto in a life that had become a whirlwind of betrayal, lies, and hurt.
Jason had made it clear–he was going to keep running back to Laura. And this was it. The last straw.
I couldn’t continue being the understanding and forgiving wife, I deserved more. I knew that!
I would finish the project, do my job, and then I was done. No more back and forth. No more wondering if I could trust him. It was over.
I dressed quickly, my mind racing through thoughts I didn’t want to entertain.
The weight of what I was about to do after the jewelry launch show settled on me, and though it felt necessary, it still weighed heavily.
Jason had made his choices. I was tired of being the one who waited, hoped, and fought for something that wasn’t, there.
He didn’t want to fight for us anymore. And I realized I couldn’t, either.
But still, deep down, it hurt. The man I had loved and married for three years was in love with another woman.
That was the only explanation for his recent behavior.
He was in love with Laura!
And soon, I would leave him to be with her–that would be my last act of love.
I got to work just in time, I walked through the doors as if nothing had changed. I had a job to do, and I was going to do it no matter how much my heart ached and bled.
Laura, now the design director, was supposed to have a meeting with Alexander Grey, the CEO of Grey Empire, about the collaboration
However, she was hospitalized, and the meeting couldn’t be rescheduled.
So, it fell to me to go in her place. It was my work, my idea to pitch to Grey Empire, so part of the was relieved that Laura was hospitalized and couldn’t make it.
But I wasn’t thrilled about meeting someone new, especially someone as important as Alexander Grey.
I had heard his name before–everyone had. He was a mystery to most people. Known by name, but rarely seen.

CHAPTER 011
His reputation alone was enough to make anyone nervous. The thought of meeting him made my stomach flutter with unease.
When I arrived at the Grey Empire office building, the sleek modern exterior made my pulse quicken. Just walking into the lobby felt intimidating.
The lady at the front desk told me to wait. I tried to calm my nerves, but my thoughts kept circling back to Jason- the lies, the betrayal.
I reminded myself to stay focused. This was important.
A few minutes later, a man entered the room. He didn’t look like any ordinary assistant–his appearance exuded confidence, dressed in a tailored suit that suggested a high–ranking position, almost like a CEO, and a calm, polite smile spread across his face.
I stood up instinctively, ready to greet him, but as I opened my mouth, I realized my mistake
“Good morning,” I said, extending my hand. “I’m Ava Taylor. It’s nice to meet you.”
The man laughed softly, and I blinked, confused. “I’m not Alexander Grey,” he said, his voice light and amused. My face flushed, but I quickly recovered with a sheepish smile. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to make an assumption.” He shrugged, smiling kindly. “It happens. Please follow me” he said, leading me to the conference room. When we arrived, he gestured for me to sit and offered me some water. “Just sit tight. He’ll be right in.”
I nodded and sat down, fingers nervously tapping the armrest. I didn’t know how long I’d been sitting there, but when the door opened, I nearly lost my breath.
In walked Alexander Grey.
For a moment, everything else faded away. He was tall, confident, and undeniably handsome. His presence filled the room as he owned it.
But it wasn’t just his looks that struck me–it was the way he carried himself. The way his sharp eyes seemed to see right through me.
I was completely taken aback. He wasn’t a man who inherited an empire–he’d built it from the ground up, just as the stories said.
And now, as his cold eyes met mine, there was an unmistakable spark of interest–a curiosity I hadn’t expected.
