Chapter 11
CARINA
“Is this all?” Carter asked as he looked at all my belongings.
I nodded. “Yeah, I don’t have much.”
“I can see that,” he muttered. “I should tell Falco to buy you some new things.”
I quickly shook my head. “No, I’m fine. These are enough.”
He clicked his tongue and placed his hand under his chin. “Should I buy you some?”
“Carter,” I said in a warning tone.
“What?” he asked, raising both hands in surrender. “I thought your parents were rich. Working as the pack doctors for such a long time, I would reckon they would have more money to buy you stuff.”
I shook my head in amusement. Just then, someone joined in on our conversation.
“Are you bothering her again, Carter?”
Carter turned around and sighed when he
“Alex,” he greeted curtly.
saw who it was.
I smiled as soon as I saw her. Although we’ve never had the opportunity to become close, I had a feeling she was a good
person.
“Hi,” she said, waving her hand.
“Hi,” I said, smiling at her.
Carter clicked his tongue and narrowed his eyes at her.
“What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be on watch?” he asked.
Alex rolled her eyes. “Can’t a girl get a day off?”
“Are you even a girl at this point?” Carter teased. “You’re stronger than me!”
“Don’t blame me for your lack of strength,” she smirked. “Anyway, it’s my day off. I came here to give some reports to Falco.”
Carter nodded toward the side. “He’s in his office.”
“I figured,” Alex said. “Well, I need to give these before Alpha becomes grumpy again.”
“Yeah, you do that,” Carter said.
“Nice seeing you, Rina!” she exclaimed, waving at me.
Carter sighed. “Don’t call her Rina. You guys aren’t even close.”
“She can call me Rina,” I quickly said. Then, I sincerely looked at her.
Alex smiled before sticking her tongue out at Carter.

“Get going, will you?” he said.
With that, Alex made his way to Falco’s office. Carter carried my luggage once again.
“In Falco’s room, right?”
“Yeah,” I muttered. “I don’t think Luna Selene would allow us sleeping in different rooms.”
“That’s for sure.” Carter said, going up the stairs.
“You’re close with Alex?” I asked, curious about their relationship.
“Yup.” he said. “We were neighbors growing up. She’s been like that ever since. Strong. Independent. I’m not surprised she became the head guard right away.”
“Yeah, she looks strong,” I said. “Are you guys together?”
Carter stopped in his tracks, looking at me like I had grown three heads.
“Me and Alex?” he exclaimed.
I halted, too, tilting my head to the side. “Why?” I asked. “You guys look pretty close.”
“We’re friends,” he chuckled. “I can’t look at her that way.
She’s practically a bro.”

I shrugged. “You didn’t have to react that way, though.”
“Don’t ask that question again,” he said, opening the door to Falco’s room.
“Well, here you are! Your home for…I honestly don’t know.”
I chuckled. “Yeah, it’s hard to tell.”
“Tell me if you need anything, alright?” he sincerely said. “Tim and I are staying in the next house. Speaking of Tim, I need to go bother him now.”
“I swear–Tim probably hates you now,” I said.
“Nah,” he said, shaking his head. “That guy loves me. See you later, Rina! Tell me how it goes with the monster.”
“Monster?”
“Falco, of course,” he smirked.
I chuckled once more. “Just go, Carter.”
He nodded and went on his way. As soon as I was alone, I looked around the room and let out a deep breath.
“Home?” I muttered.
For so long, I never felt like I belonged to one.
To a house with four corners, yes. But I’ve never felt the feeling of being home…even when I was younger.
Can I even call this my new home?
Before I could ponder upon it further, the door opened, and the room was filled with Falco’s scent.
“You’re already here?” he asked.

Chapter 11
I turned around and nodded. I was about to answer, but I saw how tired he looked. It seemed like the wedding preparations, as well as the attacks, had been taking a toll on his body.
“Are you okay?” I asked before I could stop myself.
He stopped and looked at me. “Why are you asking me that?”
1 pursed my lips. “I just want to make sure.”
He shook his head. “Well, don’t ask that question again.”
I merely nodded and watched as he grabbed the pillows from the bed and placed them on the couch.
“What are you doing?” I asked.
Falco sighed and shook his head, laying down on the couch that was way too small for his body. He closed his eyes and crossed his arms in front of his chest, letting out a low hum.
“Falco.”
He clicked his tongue, keeping his eyes closed.
“You have so many questions,” he said in a tired voice. “Can’t you see I’m sleeping?”
“I see that,” I said. “But you’re bed is right there.”
He opened his eyes slightly before closing them again. “You’re going to be sleeping there now.”
My mouth opened to say something, but I quickly shut it.
“Oh,” I whispered. So, he even hated the idea of lying down in the same bed as me?
“I can take the couch,” I insisted. “So, go to the bed.”
I was expecting him to stand, but instead, silence filled the room. I frowned and looked at him intently.
“You’re sleeping?” I muttered.
I gravitated toward his sleeping figure. He looked so peaceful as he lay there. However, there was still a slight frown between his brows.
I instinctively kneeled and observed his face closer. I gently placed my finger on the wrinkled part and attempted to smooth
it out.
It quickly did, causing me to smile. Now, he looked more like an angel. You wouldn’t even expect he was a strong Alpha that didn’t show mercy.
I knew I should have stood and walked away. However, something about his relaxed face made me stay. I stayed there and continued staring at his face, unconsciously leaning in.
“Handsome,” I muttered.
It was only at times like this that I could observe him in such a short distance.
As I got closer and closer, he spoke, causing me to freeze.
“Are you planning on kissing me?”
