Chapter 20
CARINA
“You can’t come with us,” Luna Selene said as she led me to her car.
Falco sighed. “Mom, the suit place is right next to the boutique you’re going. I can pick up my suit there while you dress shop.”
She clicked her tongue. “What if you see Rina through the window while she tries her dress?”
“Why do we have to consider that?” he asked.
“Falco, are you dumb?” Luna Selene asked, looking at her son with narrowed eyes.
I covered my mouth to stifle a laugh. Despite their non–blood connection, they had a relationship that many wound envy. It was truly amazing how Luna Selene treated Falco like her real son.
“Of course, you can’t see her before the wedding ceremony!” she exclaimed, going on her tiptoes to pat his head.
Falco pursed his lips. “I don’t have any time to go to the suit shop later.
“Well, make some time,” she said. “Your dad was an Alpha and still managed to do everything I told him to.”
“That’s because there weren’t many threats back then,” he mumbled. However, Luna Selene ignored him.
“Now, get in the car, Rina,” she said to me.
“Umm, it isn’t opened yet, Luna,” I politely said.
She rummaged through her pockets and cursed under her breath. “I forgot them inside.”
“Signs of aging,” Falco muttered, causing Luna to glare at him.
“Stay here for a while, okay, dear?” she softly said. “I’ll just get the car keys.”
I nodded and stayed put. Falco stayed with me, appearing like he still wanted to come.
“Does it really matter to you if I see you in the dress before our wedding?” he asked.
I pursed my lips. Well, it wasn’t a real wedding to him, so I knew why he didn’t mind at all. However, I still wanted to go through with all the traditions despite it being a contract marriage.
“Alright, don’t answer that,” he muttered. “I’m going back inside.”
“Wait, Falco,” I said before he could turn away.
He faced me once more.
I bit my lip. I had called him without even thinking about to say next. Somehow, Tim’s words stuck to me.
Falco’s past–I was very curious about it.
“I just…It’s amusing seeing you interact with Luna Selene,” I started off. “However, it wasn’t like that in the beginning, was it?”
He frowned, facing me fully. “What do you mean?”
“It was hard for you to open up,” I said before I could stop myself. “It was like that before. You never permitted anyone to get

She looked at the two of us, her eyebrows furrowing immediately. “What did I miss? What’s with this atmosphere?
Falco avoided her question. “I’ll go to the suit shop later with Tim. Don’t wait up for me.
With that, he walked away, not sparing us a glance.
Luna Selene clicked her tongue. “What’s with him?” she muttered. “He’s in a grumpy mood again”
Then, she cheered up when she saw me. “Well, let’s get going, shall we?”
I was about to open the car door when hurried shouts and footsteps interrupted us.
“Wait, wait, Luna! Can we come with you?”
I turned around and saw Carter running toward us. Behind him was….Alex?
“Carter?” Luna asked. “You want to come to the dress shop?”
“Yes!” the two of them exclaimed at the same time.
It was then that Carter must have noticed Alex’s presence.
“What are you doing here?” he asked.
“It’s my day–off again,” she sheepishly smiled.
“You have way too many day–offs these days,” he muttered.
“Can we come?” Alex asked, standing right beside Carter.
Luna glanced at me. “If it’s alright with Rina, then it’s fine. As long as you won’t send photos to Falco.” “I wouldn’t dare!” Carter exclaimed. “If I could keep the view of her in my eyes only, then I would do it.”
We had just arrived in the gown boutique, and I was already overwhelmed.

“Oh, I like this one and this one!” Luna exclaimed as she browsed through the dresses. “These are all so beautiful! I can’t pick just one dress. I feel like Rina would look good in all of it, too!”
“I think this one’s great!” Carter said, pulling up a dress that appeared straight out of a red carpet. It looked like something those starlets would wear during a premier. The back was so backless I was sure my ass crack would be seen if I wore it.
Alex grimaced at Carter’s choice. She held up another dress–one that was too modest this time. Every inch of skin would be covered with the dress. Yes, even the fingers.
“Ew,” Carter said, glancing at the dress. “Your taste is so weird.”
“Speak about yourself,” Alex said, sticking her tongue out at him.
Meanwhile, Luna Selene was already on her fifth dress.
I pursed my lips and looked around. I didn’t want to try so many dresses nor wear what Carter and Alex had chosen.
Just then, in the corner, hidden from view, I saw a shining fabric that appeared whiter than all of the dresses.
I walked to it quietly while Carter and Alex were busy arguing and while Luna Selene continued to struggle with choosing.
I held onto the dress and felt the soft material.
“Can I look at this dress, please?”
