Chapter 31
CARINA
My sleepiness had all gone away now.
Who knew Falco was such a big cuddler? Was that why he needed four pillows when he slept?

I smiled to myself, finding it endearing. However, a part of me also thought about whether he had always cuddled up to Natalia.
He began murmuring, and I felt his hot breath against my neck. My back was facing him, thank goodness, while one of his arms was loosely wrapped around my waist.

Then, at that moment, I felt something touch my thigh. I knew what it was, making my heart thud against my chest. It wasn’t even erect yet, and it was already this big?
I shook my head and glanced at the illuminated clock. I saw that it was well past midnight, and I still hadn’t slept a wink.
I didn’t have to force him to sleep in his bed this time. He also invited me himself. A small smile played on my lips as I allowed myself to lean against his touch.
However, my smile quickly vanished when his murmurs turned louder, allowing me to understand him.
“No, please, no,” he muttered.
I frowned and paused for a while, listening to what he was saying.
“I don’t want to, please,” he continued, his hold around me tightening. “Don’t take me away from them.”
My brows furrowed with every word he spoke.
“Save me,” he exclaimed, louder this time.
That was my cue to turn around. I looked at his face and saw he was in distress. My frown deepened as I gently removed his arm around my waist.
“Falco,” I called out his name. However, he wasn’t snapping out of his nightmare.
My heart softened as I saw his broken expression. It was such a contrast to the strong and cold Falco I knew.
I hesitantly brought my hands to his face, wiping the sweat forming on his temples with my sleeve.
“It’s okay,” I muttered, trying to comfort him through his nightmare. “I’m here, Falco. I’m here.”
His lips quivered, and it looked as if he might cry. However, I held onto his face tighter, hoping it would ground him back to reality.
It seemed to calm him a bit; however, there were still tears brimming in his eyes.
He bit his lip, so I tried to come up with a way to get him back to sleep.
Before I knew it, I had started singing.
“Under the Willow’s shade,” I started off, my voice coming out soft.
It was a song that I had heard in my dreams since I was young.

“I am here,” I followed, remembering the familiar melody.
It was a song with simple lyrics, I tried searching it up at one point, but nothing ever came
“Wherever you are.”
“You see me fade.”
It was weird how I knew it when nobody in my family did. I could see Falco visibly relaxing now, making me sigh in relief.
“But it’s okay.”
“I’ll always stay,” I ended the song, and with that, Falco also fully relaxed. I smiled and pushed his hair back, continuing to wipe the already–drying sweat on his skin.
The song was special because it calmed me down. It seemed like it did the trick for Falco, too.
Just then, he wrapped his arms around me, causing my breath to hitch.
“Don’t leave me,” he muttered.
It was vague and not directed at anyone. I wasn’t even sure if it was for me. However, for the first time in the night, I wrapped my arms around him, too.
“I won’t,” I said.
“Just don’t hurt me too much, please.”

DAMIEN
“The wedding is done, Alpha,” one of my servants, Lucius, said, bowing his head before quickly exiting the room.
It was a wise choice since I already felt myself getting angry. However, I knew better than to lose my temper.
She didn’t like how I got angry because of him.
However, I knew what was coming next.
I looked down at my plan and shook my head. It was all scrapped now–the plan to take over the Onyxfur pack. It was going so well, especially since he didn’t have a Luna.
However, that all went down the drain now that he was married.
Knowing that my hard work had gone down the drain, I slammed my fists on the table and pushed all the contents of the table down to the ground.
I breathed heavily as I stared at the mess that I had made.
I looked out of the window, where my growing pack resided.
Magic filled the land as hybrids of every form began to interact. It wasn’t easy getting here, but it was even harder staying.
Taking over the Onyxfur pack meant that we would be able to merge with the normal werewolf society and, of course, prove our dominance as hybrids.
However, that wasn’t the issue that worried me the most.

It was her.
I had tried to keep Falco’s wedding under the radar. I told everyone that she shouldn’t know at all… because that was one of the reasons why she was staying in this pack with me.
However, I also knew that it was only a matter of time before she knew. Consequently, it was a matter of time before she decided to do something that I wouldn’t like.
And as powerful as I was, I was weak against her.
Because she is my only mate. I clenched my fists in determination as I looked out of the window.
We weren’t too far from the Onyxfur pack–just far enough that they would never notice our existence.
In order to secure our place in society as hybrids, and in order for her to stay with me, I needed to accomplish two things.
One, to take over their land before she decides to take action.
And two, to murder Falco Lark.
Because if I wouldn’t be able to do that, I was afraid I was going to become a fool… and become an accomplice to her plan.
